The main cargo port of Helsinki, Vuosaari harbour, celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Vuosaari harbour is located 10 kilometres east of central Helsinki, and it mainly handles cargo transport. Most of container traffic to and from Helsinki is through this port, with more than 500.000 TEU per year. Vuosaari is also the largest port for RoRo traffic in Helsinki. Vuosaari has direct traffic connections to the main road network and Helsinki airport.
Varova’s logistics operations have been concentrated in the Vuosaari harbour since the very beginning. We remember well the harsh conditions due to a heavy snowstorm on the first day of opening on 24 November 2008. In spite of the challenging start Vuosaari has proved an excellent location for cargo handling and terminal operations which Varova currently handles with selected partners.
Congratulations to Port of Helsinki for the first 10 years and the continuing success of Vuosaari harbour!
