Airfreight is the fastest mode of transport. Large freighter aircraft can carry large and heavy shipments around the world. A shipment that weighs several tons is no problem if it can be adequately loaded, and is otherwise suitable for air transport.
Tormets, a company based in Tornio, Northern Finland, specializes in metal cutting and industrial maintenance. They contacted Varova to ship a large industrial drum from North America to Finland.
The shipment arrived at Helsinki airport on an early Wednesday morning in August. A special crane had been arranged in advance to lift the bulky, 5 meter long item weighing over 10000 kilograms, on the flat bed chassis for onward carriage. Import customs clearance and cargo handling procedures took a little more than four hours, after which the shipment continued its northbound journey reaching its destination the following morning at 09.00.
Our thanks to all the parties involved, and especially to Tormets Oy who chose Varova to take care of this interesting airfreight shipment.
