Icebreaker sailors in Finland are currently on strike that mainly concerns the Northern ports of Oulu, Kemi and Tornio.
The Finnish Seafarers’ Union has informed that unless an agreement is reached the dispute may widen into commercial shipping with a strike scheduled to begin on Thursday, 2 April 2015.
If the strike begins it will have effects on all cargo vessels arriving in and departing from the Finnish ports. However, the strike does not apply to vessels that transport passenger cars or buses on their car decks.
We follow the situation closely and prepare for the possible strike.
