EU–India trade agreement creates new opportunities for trade

The trade agreement between the European Union and India is designed to lower tariffs, simplify customs procedures, and encourage companies’ access to markets. The agreement is expected to boost trade especially in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, and sustainable technologies.

The agreement was signed on 27 January 2026 in New Delhi. It still requires formal approval from both parties and is expected to enter into force in early 2027.
