On 26 November 2025, Members of the European Parliament voted in favor of approving a new proposal for the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
The proposal included a new one‑year transition period for all companies, as well as simplifications to due diligence obligations.
Proposed new transition deadlines
– Large and medium‑sized companies: 30 December 2026
– Small and micro enterprises: 30 June 2027
The postponement of the regulation’s entry into force is based on concerns about its technical feasibility. In addition, companies need more time to prepare for the EUDR administrative requirements.
The extended transition period requires approval by the Council representing the Member States, as well as publication in the EU’s Official Journal before the original law’s entry into force on 30 December 2025.
