The three-day U.S. port strike ends

The strike that began on October 1, 2024, at the East Coast ports of the USA has ended All ongoing industrial actions will cease, and work at the ports will continue.

The International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. have reached a tentative agreement on wages and have agreed to extend the Master Agreement until January 15, 2025, to return to the negotiate all other outstanding issues.

The strike temporarily halted operations at ports on the East Coast of the USA and the Gulf of Mexico. These ports, such as New York, Savannah, and Houston, are significantly important to U.S. trade and logistics, especially for consumer goods, auto parts, and industrial supplies. Approximately one million TEUs, an estimated 40% of all U.S. container traffic, pass through East Coast ports.
