Overtime ban and strike threat at Finnish ports

Overtime ban starts in Finnish ports on February 1, 2022. If the parties do not reach an agreement, the port workers covered by the stevedoring collective agreement will go on strike on 14 February 2022. This would largely stop operations in the ports.

The ban on overtime will affect the loading and unloading of vessels in Finland’s ports, which may lead to changes in timetables for both overseas container traffic ferry traffic between Europe and Finland.

Your contact persons at Varova will provide further details if needed.

Update 10 February 2022

The parties have reached an agreement and the overtime ban and strike threat are no longer actual.
