Red Sea security alert leads to longer transit times

The security of maritime traffic in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden has deteriorated due to attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. Several major shipping lines will suspend cargo traffic through the Suez Canal for the time being.

In order to ensure the safety of the crew, vessels and cargo, the ships are either rerouted around Africa, which increases the transport time by about 10 days, or to wait in a safe place until the situation calms down.

We are monitoring the situation, and will update schedules in more detail as soon as possible. Your contact persons at the Varova ocean freight team will provide additional information if needed.
